H Bauer, the largest privately owned publisher in Europe, has announced ABC figures that show its best-selling women's weekly and TV listings titles outperform the market despite increased competitor activity.
Take a Break continues its dominance of the women's weekly sector, posting an ABC of 1,027,013 outperforming all other true-life titles.
TV Choice records its 12th consecutive ABC rise with a figure of 1,353,436 copy sales. This marks a year-on-year increase of 11.6%.
Annual retail sales value of all H. Bauer weekly titles stands at £111m.
David Goodchild, H Bauer's UK MD says: "2006 was anything but quiet with several high profile launches and some very large marketing budgets. However it was the established brands through a combination of editorial quality and good value which continued to dominate. Take a Break remains the number one women's weekly still selling a colossal 1million+ copies per week without resorting to ABC boosting price cuts. TV Choice has continued its rise once again achieving double-digit growth and is clearly the second largest selling magazine in the country. Magazines continue to provide a hugely attractive, interesting and diverse proposition to both readers and advertisers, and we look forward to building upon this in the periods to come."
Matt Hayes, Sales Director at TPC says: "In an increasingly competitive advertising market, the H Bauer portfolio of weekly titles continues to perform, delivering over 4.9 million female readers every week. We look forward to continue working with advertisers to engage with this audience." (Source: NRS Oct 05-Sept 06)
